- Is <style> in <body> a good idea?
"I'm not sure how much this matters seeing as it works in all browsers regardless, but use of <style> inside the <body> is technically invalid according to the HTML specification. It's strange that a CSS spec would use invalid markup (as shown above), but that's the situation."
- Updating CSS Border Radius When A Container Is Overflowing - PQINA
"In short, the --overflows-x and --overflows-y custom properties are set to 1 if overflow is detected (with the CSS animation). The amount we subtract from the default border-radius --tl is multiplied by the --overflows variable which either sets it to 0 or results in a lowered border-radius."
- CSS-in-JS: The Great Betrayal of Frontend Sanity - The New Stack
"it wrapped us in a shiny new layer of chaos -- one that performs worse, reads worse, and somehow costs more CPU cycles to do what a plain stylesheet did perfectly fine two decades ago. This is not evolution; I'd call it over-engineering disguised as progress."
- 512KB Club | A showcase of lightweight websites.
"When popular website like The New York Times are multiple MB in size (nearly 50% of which is JavaScript!), you know there's a problem. Why does any site need to be that huge? It's crazy."
- The CloudFlare outage was a good thing
"Outages like today's are a good thing because they're a warning. They can force redundancy and resilience into systems. They can make the pillars of our society - governments, businesses, banks - provide reliable alternatives when things go wrong."
- Web platform features explorer - Home
"Use the Web platform features explorer to discover new features and APIs and stay up-to-date with changes."
- CSS Stickers
"Because we all love stickers, and we all love making our laptops, mugs, backpacks, shorts (and more!) unique, stylish, interesting, impressive, and expressive."
- Web browser status bars are nuts
"In summary, the three major desktop web browsers are inconsistent with each other, sometimes inconsistent within themselves, and in general, nuts. I suspect that the web browser vendors ultimately want to erase URL schemes altogether, which is bad enough, but the current halfhearted, half-baked, half measures appear even worse."
